Size Two

Well, if I needed any more proof that I am a bad mom--I've got it now! I went to change Tyson's diaper before putting him to bed and what did I find?? No diapers. I know I have some in the back of the Jeep, but Mike has the Jeep at volleyball. There's some in the church bag but, yeah that's still in the Jeep from Sunday. There's got to be some upstairs for after baths--nope, I finished those off a couple weeks ago and forgot to refill them. Grrr...why am I so irresponsible. So I searched in the garage and found half a box of size 2 diapers (Tyson's in size 4); they'll have to do. I managed to squeeze them on him--diapers really are quite stretchy. So there you have it! Hey, in my defense--at least I changed his diaper before I put him to bed :)

Someone's Got a Crush...

...and no, I'm not talking about my crush on our pediatrician (after seeing him driving a minivan wearing a turtle neck sweater, I just don't feel the same way)--it's Jordan on...her swimming teacher Elliot. She would kill me if she read this, but I think it is so cute. She was SO excited that he was her teacher again this session AND she just has that glow every time she talks about him. She told me over and over how he picked her up out of the pool and said "I've got a real cute one here." I think a lot of the little girls have crushes on him--they are always giggling and waving at him.
Here's Jordan at swimming lessons

(I scanned it out of an advertisement for swimming lessons)

I Love to See the Temple...

...we'll go inside someday. Today was the stake primary temple activity. It was nice to show the kids the temple, visit the visitors center, and enjoy the HOT weather. The kids were a little restless during the tours, but I think they still enjoyed it.

Where the heck is Ratatouille?!

A couple of months ago, we decided to have a family movie night. We made invitations, bought treats, set up pillows and blankets--the whole deal. What movie were we going to watch?? Ratatouille. We planned on watching this movie because Jordan, Kya, and I had seen it in the theater and Mike hadn't seen it yet. Well about ten minutes before it was time to start the movie, I went looking for it...and looking...and looking--it was NOWHERE. So after about 1/2 an hour of searching we finally settled down to watch Charlotte's Web instead. Well I couldn't stop searching for Ratatouille and I still haven't found it. I found the case, I found the cover, but no movie. Grrr...it makes me so angry. So tonight I full out searched again because we were having another movie night and still NO RATATOUILLE. It is driving me crazy.

(Jordan drew this picture of Dad, Kya and Jordan watching Ratatouille--this was before we "couldn't find it"---where are me and Tyson?? Good question!!)

Now THIS is summer

The past few days have been wonderfully warm--I think today even hit 90 degrees. I LOVE it! I don't think the downstairs of our house has ever been warm--until this week. Now this is what I expect out of summer, but Marina usually doesn't deliver. We have had fun running through the sprinkler, playing at the beach and getting nice and brown--I mean pink.

Three Kids, One Bike

Jordan is too big
(although she isn't allowed to get a new bike until she learns to ride this one without training wheels--such a scaredy cat) Tyson is too small
(although he thinks he's big enough)

Kya is just the right size

Kya's Camp Out Party

I know it's 2 weeks before her birthday, but with all her friends going out of town, we thought we'd do Kya's birthday party early this year. Saturday was the big day.
The cake--I looked up countless camping cake ideas and couldn't find the "right" one, then I asked Kya what kind of cake she wanted and she said a butterfly cake--it worked!

Roasting hot dogs at the "camp fire"--I think this was the favorite part for most of the kids. I cooked hot dogs, then put them on a stick. They pretended to roast them, and then ate them off the stick. If we didn't have cake, I would have done smores too!

Playing in the tent--we managed to get the tent somewhat up in our living room, but not without some effort. The kids set up their sleeping bags and snuggled in there for a while. We are missing two girls and Tyson in this picture, so you can imagine how "snug" it was.

Singing "Happy Birthday"--we were short a few chairs, but we improvised.

The goody bags--I found these cute bug holders at the dollar store and couldn't resist. We filled them with trail mix, magnifying glasses, sunglasses, mini camers, and a few other goodies. Everyone got to take home a flashlight too (after they used them for the butterfly hunt--which was also a big hit with the kids).

All in all, the party was a success...now we just have to wait for her "real" birthday for her to be FIVE!!

Most Recent Purchase

Okay, don't think any less of me when I tell you that I just bought tickets to see Jessica Simpson in concert :) She is going to be at the Monterey County Fair in August, and I just couldn't resist. Mike agreed to come with me if he was allowed to make fun of it. So if anyone wants to join us...

Pizza My Heart

After playgroup this morning, a group of us invaded the Pizza My Heart restaraunt in Monterey. It was slightly crazy, but come on only one...

...piece of pizza fell on the floor.

...of the two-year-olds escaped out the door.

...kid fell off his chair.
...customer glared at our table.

...child had to go to the bathroom during lunch.

...little boy screamed at the top of his lungs.

...girl cried because she didn't get to sit where she wanted.

...Mom had to stand and help her kids eat the entire time.
Okay, well maybe it was more than one--in every case. But we're moms, we can handle it--and I think most of us had a good time during the hour of craziness too :0)

School's Out, Scream and Shout!

Today was the last day of 1st grade for Jordan!! She has been sad about this day for weeks now--she LOVES her teacher, friends and going to school. We are happy to have her home--summer would last forever if it was up to me. My babies are growing up too fast :(

Jordan's gift for Mrs. Glenn--I think it turned out cute!

Me and My Babies

I was just looking through pictures today and I thought I would post some. Here are some of my favorites of me with each baby--it was hard to pick just one for each.

Women Are Awsome

Yesterday we had a lesson in RS that really stuck with me. We were talking about self worth and how we, as women, often struggle with this. One lady stood up to share her testimony at the end of the lesson. She was in her eighties. She told about how she had ten children and raised them while living on a farm. She talked about how she always felt guilty that she spent more time doing farm chores than with her children. She told of a time she had come in the house after finishing her many chores to find peanut butter and jelly all over the floor. She talked about how awful she felt when she discovered it was there because her 4-year-old was making her younger sibling a sandwich because she was hungry. How many times do we feel inadequate as mothers, wives, or just women? I am grateful to be surrounded by such amazing women in my life. I honestly believe there isn't a woman that I know that would wish harm upon another person. By nature, woman are good, compasionate, and loving. We all feel at times that we are not measuring up to others, but we are. That woman who told that story in RS has no idea how wonderful she is--what influence she had on her family, and how strong she is for working so hard. I know it's late for Mother's Day, but I want to say "thank you" to all the amazing women in my life--my mom, my sisters, my friends, and my role models.

If you haven't heard this talk from Elder Ballard titled "Daughters of God", READ IT--IT IS AMAZING.
