Back to The Land of The Living. . . I think
Oh my gosh, I HATE being sick. I am finally back from the dead, after being sicker than a dog for the past 3+ days. I had strep throat and I think the flu too.
This is how I spent my weekend:
-in bed sleeping on and off
-doing absolutely nothing
-listening to Mike take care of the kids
-calling downstairs for anything I needed (and someone would lovingly bring it to me)
Doesn't sound so bad until you hear the rest of it:
-While I lay in bed my muscles ached, and I suffered through alternating chills and fevers.
-I was bored out of my mind. When I couldn't sleep anymore, my head ached too much to read or watch tv and my throat hurt too much to eat, drink, or even talk.
-Believe it or not, one of the hardest things about being sick is not being able to watch the kids; not just that, but listening to someone else watch them is even harder. Mike is a great Dad, but he just does things a little different than me (complete opposite sometimes--forgetting to feed them, not being able to find a single article of clothing, and NEVER taking them out of the house--not to complain or anything).
A weekend in bed would've have sounded pretty appealing to me a week ago, but after what I just went through, I am ready to be up and about again. Today Mike is back at work and I am back to being the "Mom" but I am still a bit sick. With the house a complete mess, the laundry from last week all over the place, and three days of fast food and take out under our belts, I have my work cut out for me today. Wish me luck.

It Finally Happened
Here is my beautiful bouquet on my wedding day--we were so broke when we got married, but Mike knew how badly I wanted an "all rose" bouquet, so he bought it for me!
Here is what it looked like today--I had to climb behind the computer desk to take the picture.
And I can't finish this post without adding a picture of the little tyrant that made it all happen!

Car Trouble
Our Camry has been having so many problems lately. A month or so ago it died while Mike was driving to seminary at 5:30am. They fixed the timing belt and repaired some damage that was done to the engine. Then they announce to Mike that the axel (I think) and CV joints needed replacing, so we got that done too. The car was in the shop for over a week. Then when we got it back, I drove it and it seriously felt like it was going to fall apart. Then about a week ago, it stalled when Mike was at a stoplight. Yesterday when Mike was driving home from work, he said the brakes sounded terrible, the car was wobbling, and he just felt like it might not make it all the way home. So this morning, back to the mechanic it went. How frustrating--AND today while I was driving the Jeep, the brakes started making an awful noise.
I think it is time for something new!!! Now I just need to convince Mike :) I think this might just be the thing we need!

Easter
The Egg Hunts
On Saturday we spent the morning with our Ward at Schoonover Park. The little kids (5 and younger--Kya & Tyson) hunted for eggs in the tennis courts and around four big trees, while the big kids (6+--Jordan) got to search in a huge grass field. All the kids found the egg with their name on it, which they exchanged for a goodie bag. They also got to search for a few candy filled eggs.
On Sunday morning, the kids searched our living room for the eggs the Easter Bunny hid for them while they were sleeping. Kya and Jordan were surprizingly cooperative--sharing and helping each other (I was amazed since they are usually fighting). Jordan even came downstairs before Mom and Dad and didn't start the hunt until we were all up. I was very impressed! Tyson didn't really care to hunt; he just tried to steal eggs out of the girls' baskets.
The Clothes
I debate every year about whether or not I should get the girls Easter dresses. I think it is a great idea, but Mike thinks it is a waste of money. This year the girls didn't really need new dresses, but when we were at Target and I was looking at dresses, Kya REALLY wanted one. Since Kya usually couldn't care less about clothes, I had to give in. I got the girls simple sundresses, but they looked so cute! Tyson looked the most "Eastery" of all, in my opinion. I put him in a pastel vest, with tan pans and a white collar shirt. So cute!!
The Baskets
I LOVE filling Easter baskets--just as much as I love stuffing Christmas stockings! You can get so many cute things at the dollar stores these days. I thought it was funny when I came downstairs to see that Jordan had switched the bubble bath I had put in her basket with the one I put in Kya's. She thought she was pretty clever. The kids loved all their new toys and books. Jordan said this morning "now I can't decide what to bring for show-and-tell."
The Dinner
Well on the drive to church I realized I forgot to put the ham in the crockpot! So, we had our Easter ham and scalloped potatoes a little later than we had planned. The dinner turned out great, although I wish I could have been at Mom and Dad's for Mom's delicious turkey dinner.
The Egg Decorating
Okay, I am a little behind. The egg dying kit is sitting unopened on my computer desk. Hopefully we will get to it today!
Happy Easter everyone!
