I hate being completely at someone else's mercy. I hate having to go to the doctor to diagnose an ear infection when it seems so simple to look into an ear and see what is wrong. Along the same line, I hate having to go to a mechanic to see what is wrong with my car, and then being completely clueless as to whether he is telling the truth or doing a good job fixing whatever is wrong.
Our Camry has been having so many problems lately. A month or so ago it died while Mike was driving to seminary at 5:30am. They fixed the timing belt and repaired some damage that was done to the engine. Then they announce to Mike that the axel (I think) and CV joints needed replacing, so we got that done too. The car was in the shop for over a week. Then when we got it back, I drove it and it seriously felt like it was going to fall apart. Then about a week ago, it stalled when Mike was at a stoplight. Yesterday when Mike was driving home from work, he said the brakes sounded terrible, the car was wobbling, and he just felt like it might not make it all the way home. So this morning, back to the mechanic it went. How frustrating--AND today while I was driving the Jeep, the brakes started making an awful noise.
I think it is time for something new!!! Now I just need to convince Mike :) I think this might just be the thing we need!

Anita...I can't really volunteer my husband, but scott's dad is a mechanic and so scott knows a lot about cars...if you can hang tight a few weeks I am sure he could look at it for you. it is definitely nice having a mechanic in the family!
