Moment of Fear

I had a terrifying moment yesterday morning--any guesses who it involved?? Okay, so here is what happened:

I was upstairs with Tyson, cleaning the kids' room. I left for about 1 MINUTE to get changed. When I came back Tyson was out the window and on the ROOF (he had climbed on the bookshelf and pushed the screan out)!! Oh my gosh!! Just so you know, the kid's room is on the second floor and the roof outside the window is pretty short and really slanted. I seriously didn't want to scare him and make him run, so I quickly yet calmly made my way to the window. Luckily he let me grab his hand and pull him back in.

What a scary experience. All I could think about was "he could have died". Needless to say, Tyson was not let out of my sight for the rest of the day AND that window will never be opened again.

Can't Live Without...

It's cute the way little kids get attached to "things". Over Christmas Tyson gave up his pacifier, and shortly after was having a hard time going to sleep at night. Once he found his "baby" blanket and a stuffed friend to sleep with, he has done SO much better. Here are a few things my kids, at one point or another, couldn't live without:

Sony Bear and Pacifier (we called the pacifier SuSu and she had it until she was 3!!)

"Uni" (unicorn)--Kya got this for her 1st birthday (from Tina) and Jordan claimed it. She still sleeps with her every night (along with about 6 other stuffies that HAVE to be in her bed)

Care Bear--we lost the small one, but Kya still loves the full-size Sunshine Bear (although she doesn't sleep with it anymore)

Kya still sleeps with her "baby" blanket that Grandma made for her

Tyson was the most obsessed with his pacifier out of all my kids. He wanted it from day one and he could NEVER be without it. Somehow, he was also the easiest to break from it (we couldn't find it one night and he just kind of forgot about it after that)

Now Tyson needs "blanky" and "doggy" every night to go to sleep (the dog is another gift from Tina for one of my girls--but now it's Tyson's)

Activities What??

I got released from teaching Relief Society yesterday (the best calling EVER). Wonder what I was called to?? Activities Committee Chair--that's right Activities Committee! I'm not quite sure what I think of that yet.

Oh My Gosh!!

This is what the garden looked like when Mom and Dad planted it Oct. 2005
Thanks Mom and Dad for planting the plants from h%#@! in my front garden! I started pruning back the "crawling" plants that Mom and Dad planted for us (about 2 and 1/2 yrs ago)this morning and thought "maybe I'll take one or two of them out since they grow completely out of control in about 2 weeks"--easier said than done! The roots on those things are practically as big as tree trunks and are about 5 feet long!! I managed to get one out, but the other I had to just cut the roots and leave the rest of it in the ground. Wow, what a project. I spent an hour and a half out there and I am only 1/3 of the way done. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I found under the crawling plants--a hairbrush, a cheetos bag, two shingles from the roof...what fun!

Here's a picture of the garden when I was working on it--those two piles are the trimmings from just 2 out of the 5 crawling plants!!!

Valentine's Day

I know Valentine's Day was last week, but I just had to write about it. Mike took me to this restaraunt (Cafe Beach) with the most awsome view of the ocean--and good food too (thanks Kim for watching the kids). He and the girls had a blast doing the scavenger hunt when we got home. Our house is still filled with love and candy from that special day (although I could do without those conversation hearts--they are so cute, but nobody likes to eat them).

Cafe Beach--all the tables have an amazing view of the ocean

The Clues for the scavenger hunt--I thought they looked so cute

Stories, Stories and More Stories

The girls have started asking for stories at bedtime. Not stories from books, but stories about them when they were "little". We tell one about Jordan, one about Kya, and then they get to pick whether they want one about Tyson or Mom. It is fun for me too, although sometimes it's hard to think of an interesting story to tell. The girls get so excited about the simplest little story. I love this new "tradition" we started.

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt
I made this for Mike to give him his 3rd wedding ring. I wrote it in about an hour last night while watching American Idol, so no critiquing my writing skills :)

Here’s a scavenger hunt made for you
Your Valentine’s present is at the final clue

We’ll start where we met, at The Colony
The clue’s where you sat when you chatted with me
It’s not the same one, but our own will do
Just walk on over and find the next clue

Our meeting in March led to our first date
A volleyball game, and you were not late
I scrapbooked the picture that Doug Wyatt took
The clue’s inside that special book

Our wedding day was one of my best
Although we didn’t get time to rest
We rushed around from here to there
But the clue can be found on what I wore in my hair

Parkside Apartments was our newlywed pad
But we soon moved to Union Square, which we thought was quite rad
You’ll find the next clue by our little sweet pea
Who was born in Utah and made us oh so happy

California called us and away we went
But when the visa fell through, we didn’t have a cent
The next clue can be found in the thing that we got
From old Bishop Boyle, who liked us a lot

Kya was born in San Jose
We never thought we would move away
The next clue is where we now call home
Not too far away from the telephone

With our little boy came a challenge or two
But with that guy around, who could ever be blue?
Your Valentine’s present can be found in his box
I hope that IT will knock off your socks

We’ve had many ups and downs since our first Valentine’s Day
But I want you to know that come what may
I will love you forever and ever I swear
If this wedding ring you will always wear
(AND IF YOU LOSE IT AGAIN, YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANOTHER ONE)

Not EXACTLY what I had planned

Well this was my "to do" list this morning:

-pick up pictures at Costco
-turn in our intradistrict transfer
-get the stew in crockpot
-vacuum jeep
-clean the kitchen

This is what actually happened:

-I spent half an hour (at least) cleaning up a jar of spagetti sauce that fell out of our jeep and smashed in the driveway (not an easy thing to clean up--especially when you have a two year old with boots on trying to make spagetti sauce footprints)
-I did manage to get the stew in the crockpot by noon--at 2pm I discovered that my crockpot WASN'T working--grrr!
-the jeep DIDN'T get vacuumed
-the intradistrict transfer DIDN'T get turned in
-I loaded the dishwasher completely full and I still have a counter full of dishes--not to mention a pudding mess on a chair and a table cloth covered in ranch dressing (I wonder who did that?!)

Oh well, it's still early. I wonder what other adventures will keep me from my long list of chores for the rest of the day.

My Little Baby is SEVEN!!!

Jordan's birthday was on Saturday--I can't believe she is seven already. Here's a few things about her and a few pictures of her "growing up":

-loves High School Musical & Hannah Montana
-loves to sing and perform for us
-loves school--more than just about anything
-takes ballet (and is a very good little dancer)
-is a very good reader
-loves drawing and anything crafty
-loves anything sweet--chocolate, candy, gum...
-is dying to get her ears pierced (but Dad insists she waits)

Update

Good News: My phone is working again (at least it finally turned on at 8pm tonight--I haven't attempted to use it yet)!!!

Bad News: Tyson has come down with something--he has a fever and has been snuggling with me all evening (maybe it's from all the toilet germs). So sad.

He's Gone TOO Far This Time

Okay, so a few of you know about Tyson's infactuation with flushing things down the toilet, well today he went too far. Here is a list of a few things he's flushed in the past:

-dirty socks
-a deflated balloon
-a pacifier
-chapstick
-a small bouncy ball
-a princess pillow (which didn't go down the toilet since it was too big)

Mike always told me I should really scold him when he did this, but I had a hard time getting "really" mad at him. He would run, flush something down the toilet then come out of the bathroom and say "where go?" and gasp. It was hard to be mad at the cute guy. But TODAY I wished I had taken Mike's advice when I saw Tyson attempting to flush my CELL PHONE!! I grabbed it before it went down, but I haven't been able to get it to work since.

The video really doesn't have anything to do with my blog, except to show how sweet and innocent my little boy is--how can you get mad at that little guy?!

Birthday at the Spa

I thought it would be fun to take Jordan and a couple of friends to the spa to get their nails done for Jordan's 7th birthday (her actual birthday isn't until the 9th). Well before I knew it, it was a combined birthday with one of her best friends (Julia) to get their hair, make-up, nails, and toes done...followed by dinner and cake at a restaraunt! Oh did those girls have fun. When we were leaving, they said "Can we come back next week and do it all again?" (I don't think so!!!). Here are some pictures:
Hair and Nails

The Birthday Girls (with their hair all done)

After hair, make-up, and nails--ready to go for dinner and cake

Looking at the Hannah Montana CD Jordan got for her birthday (I love this picture)

Listening to Azul's IPod (guess who wants an IPod for her birthday now??)

Happy Birthday Jordan and Julia!!
