Thanks Mom and Dad for planting the plants from h%#@! in my front garden! I started pruning back the "crawling" plants that Mom and Dad planted for us (about 2 and 1/2 yrs ago)this morning and thought "maybe I'll take one or two of them out since they grow completely out of control in about 2 weeks"--easier said than done! The roots on those things are practically as big as tree trunks and are about 5 feet long!! I managed to get one out, but the other I had to just cut the roots and leave the rest of it in the ground. Wow, what a project. I spent an hour and a half out there and I am only 1/3 of the way done. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I found under the crawling plants--a hairbrush, a cheetos bag, two shingles from the roof...what fun!
Here's a picture of the garden when I was working on it--those two piles are the trimmings from just 2 out of the 5 crawling plants!!!

It looks like you have a willing helper! I can't believe that those little crawing plants have grown so much over the past 2+ years, I know you have cut them back several times over that time. To think that the guy at the nursery told us that nothing grows in Marina soil, I think they have done pretty good. Maybe it was the steer manure that we used when we planted them!
