Let's see if I can really do this

March Resolution: Stop Spending/Start Saving

During our move to LA, I got frustrated about how much money it cost (deposit, moving truck, rent, hooking up all our utilities etc.). So after a few weeks past I realized that more and more expenses just kept coming our way (new car, insurance, cell phones, replacing our kitchen table, gym membership...) and things in LA cost more! I just hated forking over so much money for everything. So I came up with the idea of giving ourselves a "spending freeze."

This was supposed to be my February goal, but since we had a birthday, baptism, and trip to Disneyland, I thought I should push it back a month. So February's goal was to buy as much as I could to prepare for March--just kidding (although I did run out to buy my clinique face wash last night).

For March we are going to try to just buy the absolute essentials. That's no eating out, no cute spring sandles, no paid parking, no unnessisary trips to target...wow this might be harder than I thought.

I am really excited about it though. It'll be intersting to see what we can cut back on:) I think Mike will have the easiest time with this, since he has a trip every week this month (in which his meals, hotel, rental car etc. are all paid for by the company). It won't be so easy on me, since when Mike is out of town I like to rent movies, get take out for dinner, and get out as much as possible. We'll see...

Oh, and did I mention we went to Disneyland last week?! I'll tell you, it's not that magical with 3 kids and no husband:)

I think that is a noble goal... Let me know how it goes...I would LOVE to try...but alas...there are shoes to buy and cute bags too!! I know a few people who have done such a thing and are better off for trying..even if you aren't 100%successful atleast you will be more aware of your spending!! YEAH YOU!!

This is the third comment I've written...one got erased, one got deleated when I accidently shut off the internet, now this is the third (a charm I hope!). We often say that we are going to live off our two full freezers but it only lasts as long as our next trip to the store to get something that we can't live without! Good luck, Anita!! We are going to try again to do the same thing!

I have said this before and I'll say it again- Disneyland is no place for children. I went with my sister and some girlfriends last year and it was the best Disneyland trip I have ever been on! It is way more fun without kids. We are going to Disneyworld as a family in May and I am a little nervous about taking the boys again. They hated it 2 years ago.

You went without Mike?! I would never dream of attempting Disneyland without Nate. Definitely a nightmare. Good luck this month! My downfall would definitely be the eating out. :-)

I wanted to try this, too, but then I broke down and went through the car wash instead of washing our car myself (it's too cold outside!) and also bought some things for Janae's "non-party" birthday get-together :) Maybe I can start again next week. . . .
