Hey, I'm No Chef

I had the realization recently that I have been married for almost 10 years and I still can't cook...at least nowhere near as well as I thought I would at this stage of my life.

My Cooking History

Living at home Anita
-Mom cooked
-I learned how to bake plum pie and make cookies
-I could heat up a Pizza Pop or Eggo Waffle

College Anita
-Made mostly things from a box or soup or sandwiches
-Occasionally I would make a big fancy meal with my roommates
-OR my date/boyfriend would feed me:)

Newly Married Anita
-I seriously knew how to make 3 things: Spanish Chicken, Chicken and Rice Bake, and Spaghetti

Okay, so my list of "dinners" that I make is significantly longer than it was when I first got married, but now that I have the urge to really learn how to make more things, hopefully I will become a better cook too. Wish me luck...

(Tonight was my first attempt at Potato Soup...turned out pretty yummy)

I'm glad your soup turned out yummy. Does that mean that the family liked it?

What's a pizza pop? AND how do you make spanish chicken? It sounds like something I might be able to handle. Well done on the potato soup. Since my hubs has been gone since August, I haven't cooked anything real...at all. We're talkin' mac n cheese and chicken nuggets every night. I'll have to get crackin' when comes home next month!

I didn't realize how far you'd come! Although I do think you're exaggerating a bit about how little you knew how to cook :) I'm glad the soup turned out well--maybe you could forward me the recipe.

Erin...I think Pizza Pops are just in Canada, but they are kind of like Hot Pockets (only a LOT better). Spanish Chicken is pretty much Chicken Enchilatas...let me know if you still want the recipe and I will email it to you. I know what you mean about not cooking when your husband is gone--I am the exact same way:)
