Christmas Surprises
Jordan lost her front tooth
Mom lost her voice
Tyson transitioned from his "baby" blanket to his "big boy" blanket with no problems
Jordan got TWO pair of Christmas Eve jammies
Tyson got into mischeif (okay that wasn't really a surprise)
The "Cars" toy was everyone's favorite

My Artists
Christmas Sunday
The church program was nice. I love that it is always full of music. The highlight of church for me today was Relief Society (as usual). We had a lesson where the teacher talked about each member of the nativity story and what they really must have felt during the Christmas story. It made the whole story more real to me than ever before. What a magnificent event--the birth of our Savior.

I LOVE this song!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIxxATvIcus
It wasn't Chris Daughtry or Carrie Underwood but...
Mike and I saw two American Idol contestants in a Christmas concert last night. One local Presbyterian church holds a concert every year called "Christmas on Main Street". They have George Huff and Mandisa preform Christmas and religious songs along with the church singers. It was a great night. The church's pastor also sat down with George and Mandisa and talked to them about their experiences from American Idol. It was really neat to hear some insights into the show. Before the night was through, we got to hear some inspiring words from the pastor and not to mention, some great singing. I wasn't a huge fan of either of the two American Idol alums during the seasons they were on, but boy can they sing--they put on a great show. We got to sit on the third row, so it was really neat to be so close. It really felt like we were at one of the American Idol shows.

Santa Picture
Yesterday I took the kids to the mall to get their picture taken with Santa. By the time we got to the line to see Santa, the girls both informed me that they did NOT want to get their picture taken with Santa. Well, after a long talk and an ice cream bribe the kids were full of smiles and sitting on Santa's knee. I must admit, I was REALLY disappointed in the Santa. He didn't even talk to the kids or ask them what they wanted for Christmas. Don't you think "friendliness" would be a prerequisite for the job of Santa? Then they didn't even hand out candy canes! And, for $10 you would think they could at least give you a paper frame for your picture. Oh well, the picture's cute--I guess these days that is the most I can ask for. I think next year I will put the kid's in their Christmas best--they look kind of sloppy.

Just Like Mom
Most of you probably don't remember the Canadian TV show called "Just Like Mom." In this show, kids and their moms were asked a bunch of questions to see how well they knew each other. One part of the show, the kids were left alone with a table full of ingredients to make cookies. The kids could put anything in the cookies they wanted that was on the table (including stuff like mustard and ketchup). At the end of the show, the Mom would taste all the cookies and guess which ones her son or daughter made. I sometimes feel like the kids on this show. My mom is a great cook and although I have most of her recipes, my final product rarely tastes as good as hers (or looks as good).Yesterday I made naniamo bars and I think I called my Mom about 4 times in the process. My Christmas stuffing is still never right, my pancakes need serious help, and it wasn't until I watched my Mom make waffles that mine actually started turning out right. So is it the experience or just the God-given talent--hopefully just the experience. If that is the case, maybe in a few years my Mom won't be flooded with calls every day around dinner time (my sisters call too--it's not just me).

Look Familiar??

When I saw this picture on someone else's blog, I couldn't resist. If one or both of these guys don't look familiar, it's time to go to the temple.

The News
Since I have been going to my new gym, I've been watching some shows that I wouldn't normally watch. My favorite "gym shows" are The Ellen Show (when I go in the mornings) and The Big Idea (when I go in the evenings). Since I am usually there for a while, I have to pick from other stuff too. There are 5 TVs and this is usually what is on them: 1-The News, 2-CNBC, 3-More News, 4-Sports, 5-CNN. So, there are my choices. If Larry King is on, that is my first choice, if not then I go with the news. Just a little about me; I am NOT a news watcher and now I remember why. The news is never a pleasant thing to watch, but since I have had kids it just stresses me out--and freaks me out. Tonight I watched three stories about missing children, one story about a missing wife (which is thought to be a murder), a story about a college athlete that got shot in the head...It is just SO awful. I can't believe what kind of a world we live in. Who kidnaps these kids and who takes someone's life? Just horrible. So, before you turn on your tv, make sure there is something to watch other than the news.

"Everything's Changing"
Jordan made her Christmas list yesterday, and I am happy to report that she is officially out of her "Disney Princess" phase. Just about everything on her list is "High School Musical". After I mentioned that she didn't like princesses anymore, Jordan said "Mom, everything's changing. I don't like princesses anymore, my favorite color is blue instead of pink..."

Trick-or-Treat
Kya was so grown up this year. She ran to each door and was the first to say "trick-or-treat" and "thank you". She eventually did get tired of carrying her pumpkin around and was ready to go home around the same time as Tyson was (better than last year when she only lasted 3 or 4 doors).
Jordan was the trick-or-treating master. She helped Tyson at each door. She could have trick-or-treated all night if we would have let her, but she went home when the rest of us were tired. When she went to bed tonight she was very concerned about what was going to happen to her candy.
