Kya's Debut

Saturday was Kya's first tee ball game! The opening ceremonies were rained out, but the game was still ON. Kya was so cute and had a great time! Daddy was out of town and missed his daughter's debut as an athlete. I think he'd be proud:) Now lets see if we can convince her to play soccer this fall...

(Kya's team is called "The Nationals". When we got the uniform, I could NOT figure out how that was an "N" on her hat...I later found out they were the "Washington Nationals")

Our Baby Girl

I often say we got Miley instead of having another baby! She really does bring a lot of joy to our house...even if she is a cat:)

She actually fell asleep hugging Tyson's sword!

She jumped into the box all by herself! We were very surprised when she poked her head out the door:)

Miley brings us birds WAY too often. I think we have about five buried in our backyard. Sometimes they are still alive and we get to watch them fly around our house while Miley zips after them. Luckily we have been able to save a few.

My Artist

I have a 4-year-old who hates to draw.
He also hates to color.

He scribbles on his homework...for fun.

I told him his teacher wants him to do his best work.

I've told him this before...many times.

This time he decided to do it.

Who knew the kid could stay in the lines...well, mostly?

He was SO proud:)

Not Worth It

The Lovely Bones
by Alice Sebold
I struggled through some of the most awful things I have ever read, only to be disappointed with the ending:( Nothing worse than finishing a book only to feel no closure and left completely unsatisfied!

The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins

are next...they better not disappoint!

Not quite so magical anymore

So our Disneyland passes expire in April and I thought we should take the kids out of school one day to do a full non-busy day before spring break hits. When I suggested it to the kids, these were their reactions:

Kya: "But then I won't get a perfect attendance award"

Jordan: "Nah, it's too long and tiring" Me: "But aren't there any rides you want to go on?" Jordan: "No, I'd rather see my friends at school"

Tyson: "Good idea Mom"

Wow, Tyson was my only kid who thought Disneyland was a good idea! I have to admit, I'm kind of tired it myself, but I was very surprised by the kids' reactions. So, I guess we won't be renewing our annual passes...unless someone comes to visit and we just HAVE to join them at the most magical place on earth:)

Frustration!!

Okay, it's not like me to go almost a month without blogging or commenting on blogs! Our computer has been DOWN! My hubby got it running, but we're not sure how long it will last before we have to buy a new one:( So, hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures on this thing and blog before it crashes again...

Birthday Girl!

Jordan turned 9 today! I still can't believe how fast my little baby is growing up. It seriously does not seem that long ago that she was a tiny baby in my arms. As much as I miss those days, I love watching Jordan become her own person. I love you Jordan...Happy Birthday!!

This year for her birthday we got Jordan something she's wanted for a LONG time...

I just have to drive through it

I am not one to give money to strangers begging on the street, but the other day I was seriously touched to do just that (although I couldn't stop on the busy street, so I couldn't). I saw a man sitting at a bus stop. He was reading a really beaten' up copy of the Bible and was obviously homeless. I don't know what it was about that man, but he inspired me. As I drove home (I take a short cut home from Costco through a pretty rough neighborhood) I looked around at the run down homes, the bars on the windows, the garbage lining the street. I thought to myself "nobody should have to live here!" Something inside me changed. Somehow I need to find a way to help....not just give money, but really help. So that is what has been on my mind lately. How can I help? How does the world get so out of control and what can "I" do to make a difference?
