Kya's First Talk

Kya gave her first talk today in Primary! She did such a good job. She looked so scared sitting at the front waiting for her turn. When I asked her if she was scared, she said "not even a little bit, I liked my talk." We are so proud of our sweet little Kya.

Girls Night

Last night I went out for dinner with the girls. The girls felt very grown up and it was definately nice to eat at a restaraunt without a toddler. Jordan said next time we need to go to the mall for girls' night--she is definately her mother's daughter :). The boys stayed home (for boys' night I guess--they watched football and ate bagel bites).

Any guesses where we went?? Kids eat free, so our total bill including dessert was $13. It reminded me of The Olive Garden with Lisa when we just paid for our dipping sauce ($3.95).

Twins

The girls wanted to be "twins" on Sunday--I was TOTALLY on board, since usually the are fighting. Aren't they CUTE?!

It did take some work to get there...Kya's not sure it was worth it and by the time I picked her up from primary her braids were out.

Baby Names

I always thought Kya's name was pretty unique...until I got the list of kids in her kindergarten class. Here are a few of my favorites:

I haven't seen a list of kids in Jordan's class yet...

Alert the Media

I am trying to blog and for some reason my pics from my camera WILL NOT go onto my computer. I am not sure if it's my camera or usb cord but I am not happy. So instead of seeing pictures of Kya and Jordan's matching french braids or Jordan's tooth that just fell out yesterday, you are going to see what new book I am reading...so far, so good :)

Now that the kids are back to school and away from me most of the day, I have been teaching them more about safety. We chose passwords for the girls (to give to anyone who might need to pick them up from school ect.), we've discussed what to do if someone tries to steal you from Mom, and I think I have sufficiently convinced them to be scared of strangeres (although I haven't got to the "cutting you up in little pieces" talk yet, Erin).
So as I am more aware of these issues, I am even more confused when I watch parents and children around me. I see Kindergarteners walking home from school alone, parents leaving their tiny babies with total strangers, young kids roming the neighborhood for hours on end, and others coming to play with my kids whose parents have no clue where they are or who they are with (I made them call home even when they told me it was okay). Just strange. Maybe I am more protective than most, but come on kids need to be taken care of right?! I would never forgive myself if something happened to my child because I was a neglectful parent.

2007

So I was looking through pictures for a new "wall display" idea I have and I came across some pics I had forgotten about. I thought I would share a few. These are all from 2007.

Everything about this picture is "Kya." I can't even explain how well this captures her personality!Here's Jordan being "Jordan." This is crazy hair and sock day at school--she was not wanting her picture taken.

This WAS so Tyson--obsessed with the pacifier!

If anyone hasn't seen Kya do her make-up, it is one of the funniest things EVER.

Remember When??

This is what happens when you have a VERY cranky 2-year-old who keeps you up half the night. You start remembering:

I Remember when...

...I could get a good night sleep--every night.

...I didn't have to stress about what to cook for dinner (and lunch and breakfast).

...grocery shopping was actually fun.

...I would get praised when I did a good job on something.

...I didn' t have to worry about trying to lose weight.

...I didn't have to stress about owning our own company.

...I didn't have to deal with rude customer service people.

...the house would be clean and I didn't have to spend all day cleaning it.

...I didn't have kids yelling at me all day.

...I could go out without feeling guilty.

...I didn't have to worry about paying the bills on time.

...I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight.

...I didn't worry constantly.

...I could see my sisters and parents every day.

...I felt good at what I did.

...I didn't have to deal with clogged drains and broken toilets.

Don't get me wrong; I love my kids, husband and my life right now BUT sometimes I need to escape by thinking back to simpler times.
